Mumbai: Mumbai-based Nazara Technologies has joined hands with the government-backed ONDC to roll out “gCommerce,” a new platform aimed at boosting in-game monetization. The idea is to tackle the long-standing issue of low in-app purchases and ad revenues faced by Indian game developers.
Through gCommerce, developers can earn commissions on sales made directly within their games, offering a new revenue stream. The platform will connect with a variety of sellers on the ONDC Network, providing gamers access to a range of products without needing to exit the game.
Currently in a soft launch phase, gCommerce is set to be fully available by early fiscal year 2026. Nazara’s CEO, Nitish Mittersain, noted that this initiative is designed to help game developers find new ways to make money while enhancing the player experience. ONDC CEO, T Koshy, added that this partnership highlights the Network’s ability to support diverse industries, bringing e-commerce and gaming closer together.
